Middle and High School Religious Education Teacher

We are seeking a qualified secondary teacher to teach Religious Education classes in middle and high school. The correct candidate should have a passion for making the content relevant for the students lives, as well as challenging their preconceived notions.

The vision of International Education Services is to develop wise and healthy individuals who use their academic proficiency and spiritual character to engage with and influence society. We are committed to developing and implementing a curriculum that affirms an ethical worldview, reflects the international character of the school and prepares students to thrive in a rapidly changing world. Textbooks and instructional materials are drawn for the most part from American and British sources. In Grades 9 & 10 students prepare for Cambridge IGCSE exams in most core subjects. An American curriculum with Advanced Placement course options is offered in 11 th and 12 th grade. Religious Education is provided at all grade levels and curriculum is drawn from a variety of publishers.

We currently serve 160+ students representing over 20 nationalities. Koreans with 45% and Americans with 30% make up the majority of the student body. The other 25% represent the global community.

TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach Religious Education courses to Grades 5 - 12 students using the curriculum provided.
• Most courses in HS are for 1 semester
• Class sizes range from 16-24 students
• Maintain current records of student progress and communicate with parents using the school’s online management system.
• Participate in annual parent-teacher conferences. Meet with parents for additional conferences as needed.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervise students during assigned arrival, lunch and study hall times.
• Homeroom duty
• Attend and participate in general staff meetings and humanities department meetings.
• Participate in curriculum development and attend professional development programs.
• Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Level leader
• Assist with extra-curricular activities as interested and available

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:

Education Credentials:

• University Degree (Bachelor’s degree) in Theology/Bible or Christian Education or a degree in another subject with extensive training in Bible and Christian theology/philosophy/religion
• Certificate or license to teach Bible/religion

Practical Experience:

• Experience teaching secondary students
• Experience teaching the Bible and/or Christian theology/philosophy/religion
• Able to communicate and teach fluently in English and work comfortably in a multi-national environment
• Computer literate

Character:

• Able to work comfortably with a multi-denominational community
• Respects diversity while upholding the school’s philosophy of education

REMUNERATION:

• Work permit (subject to approval) for full time lead classroom teachers and payment of work permit costs.
• School will help and give advice for Employee's family permits
• National Taxes will be deducted from the salary
• Employees with work permits also receive access to the public health system
• Salary provided as 2x Minimum Wage (gross) for full time

 Full-time position teaching at least 15 class periods per week. A minimum 2-year commitment is preferred.
