Head of School
POSITION SUMMARY: A like-minded educator who will lead the school in achieving established school improvement goals while maintaining the effective and efficient operation of the school within the context of a holistic approach to education.
This position is for a K-12, policy governed school focused on serving a specific segment of the international student community in Western Asia. The school is governed by a school board elected by the parent body.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
- Recommended 5 years experience in an educational environment.
- Recommended 2 years experience as Principal or preferably also in a Director’s role.
- Recommended 2 years experience in business/financial management.
- Experience in an international school is a plus.
- Master’s Degree in Administration or Leadership a plus.
SKILLS:
- Able to work effectively with and under the accountability of a School Board in a modified Carver model of governance.
- Able to relate to, interact and engage with varying and diverse segments of school families who come from many cultural backgrounds.
- Able to work effectively in a Management team (able to delegate and empower others) to lead a diverse international school of 160 children grades K – 12.
- Able to communicate effectively with the parent and school (student) body.
- Able to process diverse opinions and viewpoints.
- Able to view this role as a "vocation" more than a "job". (required)
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
The primary responsibility of the Head of School is to implement the mission and vision of the school as determined by the Board. This is accomplished through (but not limited to):
- Facilitate the implementation of Board goals within board given limitations.
- Regular reporting to the Board on Board goals and on any breaches to the board limitations policy.
- Ensure oversight is provided for accreditation processes (MSA).
- Ensure effective oversight of school financial systems is accomplished in a manner that manages funds prudently for our key constituencies.
- Provide leadership and foster an effective environment for character building and heart growth for students and staff.
- Make recommendations for employment and supervise academic and operations staff as necessary to effectively and efficiently operate the school.
- Provide input, guidance, and supervision for the transition to a new school facility.

EXPECTATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
- In agreement with the vision, mission, values of the international school (available upon request).
- Will undergo semi-annual or quarterly Performance Review.
- Contract to be renewed by the Board annually.
- Must have a support system for personal care and crisis management.
REPORTS TO: School Board
MANAGE: All Academic and Operations staff
COMMITMENT: Full-time position with an expected 5-year commitment (minimum 2-year commitment)
COMPENSATION / BENEFITS:
- This is a salaried position. The gross monthly remuneration is equivalent to 4x the National Minimum Wage.
- Tuition Discount for any K-12 children (currently 30% off 1st child’s tuition; 15% off additional children’s tuition).
- Supplementary support in the form of local health insurance, residence permit, work permit, and payment of the employer's portion of employment taxes. (insurance and permit costs are paid for employees only.
