TeachBeyond Launches Teach Exchange Program

George knew he was called to be a missionary. He had been teaching at his local school for 10 years and was even head of his department. He searched for opportunities around the world where he could use his teaching experience to share the gospel. He contacted a school in another country, but they told him, “You have never taught off of your continent, so we cannot hire you”.
George was so frustrated.
How could he get the required international experience, if no one would hire him?
When he found TeachBeyond, an organization that did not require experience off his continent, he hit another road-block when he learned that he would have to raise support. George’s country is in the middle of a severe economic crisis, and there was no way he could raise the required support.
Eric is the principal of a Christian school in the US. As he observes his staff, he sees the teachers who are not planning to return next year, and he can feel his stress level rise. There is a teacher shortage in America, and where is he going to find teachers to fill these spots?
What if both needs could be addressed with one program?
TeachBeyond’s new Teach Exchange Program hopes to do just that.
Teach Exchange will partner with missional minded Christians from around the world, helping them get a U.S. Teacher Exchange Visa that allows teachers to come to the U.S. for 2 to 5 years, gain international experience, and fill a significant need for a school in the U.S. After the program, the teachers will return to their country, or even go to other schools around the world, and use their new skills and experience to share the gospel as missionary teachers.
Exchange teachers will grow as educators with opportunities to share the Gospel as they live and work. Schools that host these teachers will not only fill their staffing needs, but also be able to offer their students a cross-cultural opportunity to know and learn from someone from another country.
Through this program, TeachBeyond will support the teachers through orientation and by finding host families who will come alongside them during their time of service. After they return, we hope to connect them with paid positions in TeachBeyond schools around the world that will benefit from having more missionary teachers serve with them.
