Equipping Teachers in Mexico to Make an Eternal Impact
Training and Encouragement for Teachers in Mexico
When teachers are encouraged, equipped, and grounded in prayer, God can use their gifts to reach far beyond the classroom.
In February 2026, TeachBeyond, a global Christian education mission organization, hosted its second annual teachers conference in Querétaro, Mexico. The two-day conference brought local educators together for a time of worship, practical training, and shared experiences.
For two teachers from a local Christian school, the conference sparked a new sense of purpose that they have carried into the classroom.
Gaining Clarity for the Mission
Diana Diaz teaches 6th grade English, leads the school’s social media efforts, and produces a podcast. Teaching was not something she had planned for her life, but it’s the path God led her down.
“I wanted to be a lot of things, not a teacher,” Diana said. “And so now looking back, I see how God has been preparing me to be a teacher, how He has been putting different things into place. Now it's something that I absolutely enjoy.”
Despite her love of teaching, Diana went into the TeachBeyond conference in need of clarity. She had gotten caught up in the day-to-day tasks of planning and teaching and felt she had lost sight of what she was doing it all for.
“God, I know that there’s something more,” she remembers praying. “Show me. Show me.”
At the conference, she began hearing how the responsibility of Christian teachers goes beyond academic instruction.
“I remember I came to the conference and we were able to pray and we were able to listen to what God has for education and the role that we have and the responsibility of not only making our students great academically but going after their heart and discipling them and always pointing them to Jesus and making them fall in love with God,” Diana said.
It’s a message that stuck with her as she returned to her school. It has helped her gain confidence in her mission and gave her a new perspective on how she plans, prays, and cares for her students.
“And most of all,” she said, “it made me fall in love with God more.”
Learning to Adjust to Student Needs
María de los Ángeles Reyes Cejudo, known to her students as Miss Angie, loves teaching and witnessing transformation in the classroom. She teaches various subjects for students in 7th and 8th grades, including English. Angie has a gift for coming up with creative ways to engage her students. But sometimes, she can feel a bit lost, especially when students struggle to regulate their own emotions, are unable to grasp certain concepts, or refuse to try.
When she attended the Christian teachers conference, she was inspired by stories of transformation happening all around the world and came back with ideas to implement in her own classroom. She discovered a new ability to pivot her lesson plan according to the immediate needs of her students.
“Right now, with 8th grade, it's literature,” Angie said. “Sometimes it's like (the students) are tired of writing, so we got into creative dialogue. That's what we're doing. I gave them a song, a hymn, actually, and now they have to rewrite it using their own words. And they are making a song. And that for them was like, ‘Oh, yes, I love that. It's not only writing, but I can create a song.’”
Angie says the training she received through TeachBeyond not only motivated her to become a better teacher to her students, but it also opened her eyes to her role in the broader mission of Christian education in Mexico and around the world.
“You're not only a teacher,” she said. “You are part of what God is doing to transform the world, knowing that you can be used, knowing that you are an instrument, knowing that you're not only a teacher in a classroom, but you're part of a big movement that is taking the message for believers and for non-believers. It just makes your life different.”
The Power of Prayer in Education
Both Angie and Diana were most impacted by discussions on prayer and how important this spiritual discipline is in Christian education. While they both prayed before, these women are now praying with more focus and intentionality for their students.
“Prayer is so powerful,” Diana said. “And as teachers, that's how we fight our battles a lot of the times. Because there's not a lot that you can do, but God can.”
“That was one incredible thing that I already knew,” Angie said. “I am a woman of prayer, but it was not part of the lesson plan. And I was like, ‘No, no, it's the most important part.’”
Join the Effort to Train More Teachers
Diana and Angie were encouraged and motivated through the sessions they attended at the TeachBeyond Mexico’s teachers conference. They experienced how valuable it can be for teachers to learn, pray, and grow together.
TeachBeyond provides Christian teacher training to educators around the world, equipping them with practical skills while deepening their understanding of the vital role they play in their students’ lives.
On November 12, during TeachBeyond’s Day of Giving, you can help equip and encourage more teachers to share the love of Jesus in their classrooms and beyond. From now through the Day of Giving, your gift will go 3X as far, meaning every $75 you give becomes $225 in impact thanks to matching funds.
Together, we can help teachers grow in faith, inspire their students, and make an eternal impact for Christ in classrooms around the world.
